The fast-drying formula of this Minwax product allows for quick recoats in just 4-6 hours, enabling users to complete their projects efficiently. To apply, the surface must first be dry and free of old finishes, paint, wax, grease, polish, dirt, or other foreign matter. Next, the surface should be sanded to obtain a smooth, uniform appearance, and any dust removed. If desired, Minwax stain can be applied to unfinished wood surfaces, following the directions for application and drying times.

The Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane should then be shaken vigorously for two minutes, with occasional 10-second shakes during use. Adjacent areas should be protected from overspray, which can be removed with mineral spirits if wet. The can should be held vertically, 12 inches from the surface, and the button fully depressed while using an even, sweeping motion with slightly overlapping strokes. On unfinished wood, sufficient material should be applied to seal open joints, edges, and end-grain.

A thin coat should be applied to avoid runs and sags, and recoating should occur within 2 hours. If unable to recoat within this timeframe, a minimum of 72 hours should be allowed before lightly sanding and recoating. At least three coats should be applied on unfinished wood, and two coats on surfaces already finished. After the final coat, 24 hours should be allowed before normal use.
